OOPARTS는 Out-Of-Place-Artifacts라는 뜻으로,

시대나 맥락에 맞지 않게 발견된 유물을 뜻해요.

이 앨범에 실린 노래들은 지난 몇 년 간 소중히 모아온 노래들이에요.

노래들을 모아서 쭉 늘어놓고 보니, 제가 가장 헤매던 시기에 쓴 노래들이었어요.

 

‘틈새인간’이라는 표현을 쓰곤 해요.

어딘가 틈새에 껴서, 손으로 아무리 쓸어도 쓸어지지 않는 사람.

누군가 열심히 찾아도 사각의 어딘가에 놓여 찾아지지 않는 사람.

꽤나 긴 시간 동안 ‘틈새인간’으로 살며, 수없이 많은 생각들을 정리했고 글로 적었어요.

낮밤이 바뀌는 걸 창문 밖으로만 쳐다보며 긴 시간을 보냈던 것 같아요.

그러다가 더 나은 사람이 되고 싶은 마음에

건강한 음식을 먹고, 운동을 하고, 바깥을 나가보기도 하고, 사람들을 만나고.

하지만 언제 그랬냐는 듯 세상은 자석처럼 저를 틈새로 이끌었어요.

 

이제는 그 시간을 ‘맞아, 그런 때가 있었지’라며 다행히 웃어넘기며 살 정도로 무뎌졌지만,

가끔은 그 시간이 그립기도 또 두렵기도 한 것 같아요.

 

있을 수 없는 곳에 존재하는 무언가처럼, 제자리가 아닌 곳에 놓인 무언가처럼

살던 시간들 안에서 쓴 노래들이에요.

후회에 대한 이야기이기도 하고, 나를 찾아가는 이야기이기도 해요.

 

두서없을지 모르지만서도, 저와 같은 시간을 보낸 당신은

이 노래들이 무슨 말을 하고 있는지 알 거라고 확신해요.

제자리가 아닌 곳에 있더라도 잘 지내고 있으면 좋겠습니다.

‘맞아, 그런 때가 있었지’라고 웃어넘기며 사는 하루에 이 노래들이 함께 할 수 있으면 좋겠어요.
