TriPoets (參劈)
TriPoets are the oldest rap group in Taiwan still operating to this day. Formed in the summer of 2002, the group consists of Shortee, Ill Mo, and Teacher Lin. They are known for their witty lyrics, creative rhyme schemes, interactive spirit, and a style that traces its genealogy back to the Golden Age of Hip-Hop from the late 80s to 90s. Considered one of the pioneers of exploring the aesthetic possibilities of Mandarin rap, they started performing as college students in the early 2000s. In 2004, they released their self-produced mixtape album “Listen & Speak”, which became a blueprint for underground rappers in Taiwan who wanted to release their own work. In 2008, after signing with Rock Records, they released their debut album “The Beginning of Rhymes”. In 2021, after many years of pausing their activity, their sophomore album “The Continuation of Rhymes” was finally completed.
