| Meule could be the meeting between Kraftwerk and King Gizzard, the synthesis of garage and electronic music, of sequenced calculation and human imperfection.
The guitar and drums face a modular synths wall and unite in the trance, sometimes wild, sometimes soft, that characterizes the band’s music.
After a first eponymous album, the three Tourangeaux signed “Beau Red”, the band’s second record on Figure Libres Records and Luik Music.
Out of radio formats, nothing passes under the 7mn bar, because it is in long tracks that the freedom of the band expresses itself, the one which gives the same importance to the ethereal intros as to the wild and inveterate krautrock.
From synthetic elucubrations where drums lead to the wild denouement of a too long journey aboard the train of “No couchettes”, to the shoegaze tribulations of a rocker lost in his excesses in “Vacuum” to finish with “Beau Red”, a tale of the end of mankind, where giants finish devouring what humanity will have left behind.
This record, “Beau Red” reminds us of the transcendental experience of Meule’s live shows, to which are added new facets of the band that inject to their aesthetic a collective and assumed rage.
From the Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges to the Trans Musicales festival, including a KEXP live session, 2022 will remain a great year for the band. 2023 looks promising with a new EP and a nice tour to accompany this release. |
