| 군중심리. 그 중 ‘동조효과’ 라는 것이 있다. 한번쯤 그런 경험이 있었을 것이다.
다수의 의견이나 혹은 무언의 압박으로 인하여 내 생각이 통제되는 듯한 기분. 그리고 철저히 압박 속에 내 의지대로 살지못하는 상황. 우리는 일상에서 생각보다 압박감 속에서 많이 살아간다. 그래서 생각한다. 살아남으려면, 악마들에게 잡아 먹히지 않으려면, 내 주관을 좀 더 믿고 확신을 가지고 살아도 되지않을까?

| MANU[HOMEMADE]
마누가 신보를 선뵌다. E.P 앨범은 33년 만의 발매라고 한다.
ZEEBOMB에서 마누 로서의 전환점에서 그가 말하고자 한 것은 무엇일까. 마누의 이번 앨범에서 주목해 볼 만한 점은 Home 그러니까 집이라는 공간으로 하여금 모든 서사를 시작하고 종결시켰다는 점이다.
그의 앨범 중 첫 번째 트랙인 Home made , 그리고 그 곡의 처음은 가스레인지 점화음 으로 시작된다. 여느 집에 하나쯤은 설치되어 있는 그런 가스레인지의 소리 불규칙한 ‘탁탁 탁탁’ 네 음절의 점과 음 후에는 유사 가스 누출로 자연스럽게 노래가 시작된다.
한 앨범 동안 그는 나와 너의 사랑 그리고 우리의 사랑이 어떤 방향으로 흘러가야 할지에 관한 내용을 노래한다. 조금은 부드럽게. 그렇지만 때로는 화롯불처럼 따듯하게 한 가지 더 주목해 볼 만한 점은 그는 이번 앨범의 모든 믹싱과 녹음 그리고 제작을 홈 레코딩 방식으로 진행했다는 점이다.
그러니까 결과적으로 그의 이번 앨범은 집에서 태어나고 집에서 완전한 결과물로서 재탄생했다. 옅은 편안함이 곡에서 그대로 드러나는 것은 이 때문이 아닐까 그는 홈 레코딩에 있어 이렇게 덧붙였다.
사실 집에서 녹음을 하고 믹싱을 한다는 거 자체가 엄청난 도전이고 모험이었다. 이전에는 스튜디오에서 진행을 했지. 그런데 어느 순간부터 딱 떨어지는 음악 그러니까 깔끔한 음악보다는 투박하고 거칠고 사운드 그런 게 나 같았다. 나는 나 같은 음악을 하고 싶었던 거고. 그렇게 이 앨범이 탄생했다.
나다운 음악이 하고 싶었던 마누의 앨범은 모든 음원 플랫폼에서 만나볼 수 있다.

| 올 초부터 상담을 받기 시작했다. 상담은 내가 생각했던 것과는 달랐다. 주구장창 내 이야기를 늘어놓는 것이 아니라 내 마음 속을 보고 거기서 발견한 이미지들을 조작하는 과정이었다.
화낼 줄 모르고 살던 나는 상담을 통해 내 마음에서 폭주족을 발견하게 된다. 내가 숨기고 싶어하던, 본능적인 부분이다. 얘가 꼭 나쁜 역할만 하는 것은 아니다. 얘도 다 내 상처를 덮기 위해 출발한 존재다. 그런데 나는 그냥 얘를 억누르고만 살았다. 이제는 얘의 이야기를 잘 들어줄 것이다. 내가 되고싶어하는 내 모습과는 다르지만 이 또한 내 모습이다. 음악을 듣는 많은 사람들이 자신 안의 어떤 형상을 발견하고 그 형상과 대화를 나누는 시간을 가지면 좋겠다. |
