Comrades, Almost a Love Story (信號無法傳送)
| Theseus, an independent band from Taiwan that fuses Mando-pop and Urban-folk music in both Mandarin and Taiwanese.
Theseus has released their new song “信号无法传送 Comrades, Almost a Love Story,” which speaks to unspoken thoughts and announces the upcoming release of their debut album “The Forest Ends at the Sea” on July 13.
This Mandarin pop ballad is presented simply with acoustic guitar and piano, creating a heartfelt and emotional experience. Theseus aims to convey their love through this song and encourages listeners to cherish their relationships with friends and family, without waiting until it’s too late to express how they feel.
Theseus’s music conveys the unease felt by Taipei’s post-90s teenagers, yet is filled with warmth and hope. The band’s name reflects their philosophical style, and their ballads touch on the restlessness and drowning of youth. ‘우당탕!’ 빙판 위에 요란스럽게 넘어졌다. 허리 엉덩이 다리 안 아픈 곳이 없었고 멍이 없어질 날이 없었다 잠시 빙판에 앉아 내 발에 신겨진 스케이트를 바라보았다. 어렸을 적 처음 스케이트를 신었던 때의 기억이 스쳐 지나간다. 엄마, 아빠 그리고 선생님 친구들 모두 내가 스케이트를 잘 탄다고 칭찬을 해주었고 어쩌면 나마저도 자신을 칭찬하면서 칭찬들만을 먹고사는 사람이 되어버렸을지도 모르겠다. 후에 프로 피겨스케이트 선수가 되고 수많은 프로선수들을 마주하면서 내가 주로 먹고 자라던 그 칭찬이 사라진 건 그때쯤이었던 것 같다. 정말 죽을 듯이 노력하는데 항상 나는 순위권에 들지 못하는 그저 삼류 선수 정말 온몸을 던져도 안 되는 벽이 있다고 느끼는 순간과 어느 새부터 ‘내가 가는 이 길이 맞나?’ 의심 또한 정말 많이 들었다. 때로는 칭찬을 해주었던 그 모든 사람들이 원망스럽기도 했다. 하지만 세상의 높은 기준에 맞추기에는 아플 시간도 우는소리를 할 시간도 없었다 항상 더 넘어지고 넘어지더라도 다시 또다시 연습밖에는 내가 할 수 있는 것이 없었다. tv를 틀고 피겨스케이팅 세계선수권대회를 보면서 항상 나는 부러워할 수밖에 없었다. ’내가 재능이 없는 것이 아닐까? 내가 잘못된 길로 들어선 것이 아닐까?‘ 의구심이 나를 계속 좀 먹어가던 그때 내 눈에 들어온 광고가 있었다. < 색종이로 만들어진 호텔 > 색종이라는 말을 어린 시절 이후로 참 오랜만에 들어본 것 같았다. 색종이라는 단어 하나로 내가 가장 행복했던 그때, 모두가 나를 칭찬해 주던 어린 시절이 떠오르는 기분이 들었다. 고개를 돌려 거울을 봤을 때 비친 나의 모습은 의심과 불안으로만 버텨나가는 한 여자일 뿐이었고 그것을 이미 알고 있었음에도 불구하고 다시 한번 서글퍼지는 기분이 들었다. 내가 가장 좋아하던 것 내가 가장 잘 할 수 있는 것을 되찾기 위해, 어린 시절의 자신감 넘치던 나를 찾기 위해 나는 무작정 차를 타고 색종이 호텔로 향했다.

| 프로듀서 Jflow와 래퍼 짱유가 전자음악을 베이스로 한 팀 HYPNOSIS THERAPY를 결성했다.
히피는 집시였다와 자신의 개인 앨범으로 꾸준히 활동 해온 Jflow는 제15회 한국 대중음악상 최우수 알앤비&소울 음반상, 제2회 한국 힙합 어워즈 올해의 알앤비 앨범상 등을 수상하며 꾸준히 커리어를 쌓아왔다. 쇼미더머니 시즌 8에서 TOP6까지 오르며 대중들에게 모습을 알린 짱유. 이 둘은 와비사비룸 이란 힙합 팀으로 제13회 한국 대중음악상 최우수 랩&힙합 음반에 노미네이트되며 평단의 주목을 받았으며 꾸준히 리스너와 평단의 지지를 받고 있다. 또한 Jflow와 짱유는 힙합 팬들 사이에서 수작이라 불리는 KOKI7이라는 앨범으로 호흡을 맞춘 적도 있으며 10년이란 시간 동안 꾸준히 음악으로 호흡을 맞추어 왔다. 각자의 자리에서 꾸준히 커리어를 쌓아오며 마침내 결성한 이번 HYPNOSIS THERAPY는 전자 음악과 힙합 음악의 중간의 경계를 본인들의 창의력으로 가로지르며 달리는 앨범이다. 새로운 음악으로 화려한 출발을 시작한 HYPNOSIS THERAPY의 첫 정규앨범을 들어보자. |
