2023년 발매된 공중그늘의 두 장의 EP 중 Part 2 《광원》은 시선을 거둘 수 없는 강렬한 이끌림을 주목한다.

 

전작에 비해 더욱 과감해진 《광원》은 드럼, 베이스, 기타 중심의 전형적인 밴드 구성을 넘어 노이즈, 효과음 등 전자음악의 언어를 적극 차용한다. 특히 세 번째 트랙 〈연 (Feat. Khundi Panda)〉은, 힙합 아티스트 Khundi Panda와의 협업을 통해 장르를 넘나들며 공중그늘이 구상하는 확장적 음악 세계관을 가감 없이 보여준다.

 

앨범은, 행위자(탐조객, 게이머, 연 날리는 사람, 표류하는 사람, 등산하는 사람)이지만 완벽한 주체성을 획득할 수 없는 우리가 광원이라는 불가항력적인 대상 앞에 무력함을 받아들이며 삶에 대해, 사랑에 대해 가질 수 있는 태도와 그 한계를 그려낸다.

 

앨범의 결말에서 우리는, 이카로스처럼 태양에 다가가 녹아내리는 대신 은은한 달빛을 뒤로한 채 하산한다.

어느날 밤이었어요. 친구에게 전화가 왔어요. 그 친구는 술에 잔뜩 취해서 알 수 없는 이야기들을 한참을 늘어놓았어요. 잔뜩 화가 나았었던 것 같은데, 마지막에 그러더군요. 자기는 수줍음이 많다고. 저도 모르게 ‘아 ..수줍음이 많은 개새끼구나..’하고 말았죠. 그런데 말이죠. 곰곰히 생각해보니 모순된 감정 모순된 욕망은 그 친구만이 것이 아니더라구요. 어머 . 수줍은 개새끼 는 나이기도 너이기도 하구나 !
